PDF Tools
Merge, split, compress, convert, and edit PDF files — free, in your browser, no software to install.
Overview
PDF became the default format for anything meant to look the same on every screen and printer — contracts, resumes, scanned forms, invoices, reports. The tradeoff is that PDFs are awkward to change after the fact: you can't easily drag a page out of a 40-page report or shrink a file that's too big to email without dedicated software. That's the specific problem this category solves. Every tool here does one well-defined PDF operation — combining files, pulling pages apart, shrinking file size, converting to and from Word/Excel/PowerPoint/JPG, or adding protection, watermarks, and page numbers — directly in your browser.

How to Choose the Right Tool
Start from what you're trying to produce, not the tool name. If you have multiple files that need to become one document, that's Merge. If you have one file and need pieces of it, that's Split or Remove Pages. If a file is too large to attach to an email or upload to a portal, that's Compress. If you need to actually change the words or layout, you need Edit PDF (or convert to Word, edit there, and convert back) — the other tools change structure, not content.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Compressing a PDF multiple times in a row expecting further savings — most of the recoverable size comes off the first pass; repeated compression mostly just degrades embedded images further.
- Converting a heavily-formatted PDF to Word and expecting pixel-perfect layout — complex tables, columns, and custom fonts sometimes shift during conversion; always review the output before sending it on.
- Uploading a password-protected PDF to Split, Merge, or Compress without unlocking it first — most structural tools need to read the file, so remove the password (Unlock PDF) before running other operations.
- Assuming 'delete a page' and 'redact a page' are the same thing — removing a page only removes it from that copy; if the sensitive content was ever shared elsewhere, deletion doesn't undo that.
